Our Fossil Day

We learned about animals that died long ago. Fossils are leftover parts from dead animals. We learned that if a dinosaur died next to a river, the mud would wash over it and preserve its bones as fossils. We had ice fossils as well because wooly mammoth fossils have been found in ice because mammoths lived in snow! We dug up fossils from a clay brick and from ice. We learned you have to be careful when digging up fossils so you do not break them. WE put the bones together that we dug up, it was a model of a T.Rex!

AMAZING ART!

We just finished our first half term in year 4! Our unit of inquiry was expressive art. Here are some of our favourite things that we learned:

M: I like Edvard Munch's art work because it shows lot of emotion. My favorite picture by him is the scream I like that one because he was using lot of expression. My favorite type of art is surrealism.

G: I like Pablo Picasso's Blue period. It is my favourite because blue is my favourite colour. It shows calm, sad, and relaxed feelings. I did a monochromatic piece in blue.

F: I like how Leonardo Da Vinci did his self portrait. He made himself look like he was fading away by making his face really light and on an orange background. My favourite type of art is Pop Art.

A: I like Leonardo Da Vinci. I liked the Mona Lisa painting because it looks like she has a secret that she won't tell. My favourite type of art is Cubism because I liked the way the drawing is separated by lines.

J: I liked Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. I liked Andy Warhol's Pop Art, my favourite was when he took pictures of himself and put it on black and white. My favourite type of art to make is Pop Art. I made a giant Hershey's chocolate bar.

Our First Class Blog!

Our class just took our first trip to Bawdsey! We got to stay overnight, and were VERY brave taking a trip away from home for 3 whole days. Now its time for the students to take over...this is their first chance to use our blogspot! Each student can tell you their favourite part of our Bawdsey trip!
p.s. I will try and post some photos of the trip if I can get my hands on them!

G: Hi, my name is G. I am nine years old, and I am in year 4. My favourite part of the Bawdsey trip was going crab fishing--I almost got pinched on the toe by one of them!!

F: Hi, my name is F. I like being in year 4, I am 8 years old. My favourite part of the Bawdsey trip was going crabbing. I caught one big crab, and then we let it go.

J: Welcome, my name is J. I have TWO favourite parts from the Bawdsey trip! The first is the yummy yummy toasted marshmallows. The second is beach volleyball and I learned how to hit the ball over the net (first you hold the ball, then you swing your hand under, and then y ou hit the ball)!

A: Hi, my name is A. I wanted to go to Bawdsey but I couldn't because I was sick. I hope I get to go in the summer. I wish you all a good day.

H: Hey, my name is H. I am in year 4 and I am eight years old. My favourite part of Bawdsey was our bonfire on the beach. It was so much fun because we toasted marshmallows. It was so yummy!
